The President (Mr. Kingsley) shared a story of how he was arrested and taken to a local Police station on a Sunday morning 30th Dec. 2001 over a minor family feud – a typical theatrical events commonly witnessed in polygamous compounds.
The day, timing and pains of that incident midwifed the vision inside an open roof cell which sees no light except the stars in the sky.
In that chilling and sleepless long night with hunger-stricken inmates he was moved with compassion and thus promised them bread and a visit after his release on Monday morning.
As tears drop down profusely he turned to the LORD and wisperd a prayer to God and vowed to look after the wellbeing and freedom of such helpless people trapped in prisons.
But soon after his freedom, he forgot the inmates, his the pains, and the vow!
Five years later he heard Rev. Dr. Umah Ukpai warning him to go back and fulfill the vow he made to God years ago.
As it is written “When you shall vow a vow unto the LORD your God, you shall not delay to redeem it; for the LORD your God will surely require it of you; and it will be snare in you.” Deut.23:21
That was how and when our prison outreach, called ‘BEYOND D BARS’ for Prisoners of Hope was started on 25th Dec. 2006 with its first Outreach event held at the same Police Station (Osisioma Divisional Police HQ) and then to World Bank Police Station, Abayi – both in Abia State
From thence, “Beyond D Bars” embarked on an aggressive Prison Outreaches and within 7 years, it toured and touched both male and female inmates in almost all the Nigerian Prison Service (NPS) Centers across Southern Nigeria: Aba, Umuahia, Owerri, Okigwe, Awka, Onitsha, Enugu, Portharcourt, Degema, Abakalike, Calabar, Benin, Delta, Yenegoa, Asaba, Uyo, ete
Preaching the gospel of hope, counseling inmates;
Sharing inspirational materials – tracts, bible, etc.
Distributing basic needs- food, water, cloths, footwear, toiletries, etc.
Establishing contact between inmates and relatives, and offering free legal assistance.
“TARA CENTER FOR RELIEF” for the victims of violence, war and natural disaster.
In a vision on 19th September 2012, the LORD came to the Kingsley Cezer loud and clear, thus:
“Go, register Tara, as a center for relief for the victims of violence, war and natural disaster".
Three years later, “TARA – CENTER FOR RELIEF” was legally incorporated as a non-governmental, non-profit humanitarian organization (RC.78423) on 11th June 2015.
And in line with the new divine mandate, TARACFR began enlarging her ‘borders’ of humanitarian services beyond the prison walls, reaching out to the victims of violence, war and natural disaster through the listed 5 outreach directorates.
In 2016, Tara Center For Relief partnered the Borno State Chapter of the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) and provided relief materials to the Internally Displaced Victims of terrorists attacks in their camps in Maidugiri.
The Organization is actively engaged in various humatarian programs with Orhanage homes, community projects (free water project) and isolated individual emergencies, such as medical, academic, youth empowerments etc.
In December 2020, Tara Center For Relief identified an old widow in Ihechiowa Aruchukwu Abia State Nigeria - who lost her two children and husband at a tender age and has since remain helpless, living under a leaking one room mude house. The Organization first started provided her foodstuffs at regular interval, then placed her on a lifetime monthly salary, and later built and handed over to her a modern furnished a one bedroom flat on 22August2021
